Awards & Honours

The ISSA is perhaps, the only professional Social Science organisation, indeed a pioneer, in giving professional awards.
ISSA is committed to promoting Young Social Scientists of the country by inculcating among them writing and presentation skills. There are three awards for the Young Social Scientists viz Professor Radha Kamal Mukherjee Young Social Scientist Award, Golden Jubilee Young Social Scientist Award and Dr Mukul Srivastava Memorial Award. These are awarded through contest. ISSA is again a pioneer in awarding and promoting Young Social Scientists.

The senior awards were for Life Members of ISSA. But the Trust Board decided to transcend the Membership boundary and seek closer networking and association with Social Science Associations and Institutes across the country. In our endeavour to recognise the accomplishments of Social Science / Social Work Educators and Practitioners, senior and emerging both, we are collaborate and associate with Associations and Institutes to Award Educators and Practitioners with ISSA Awards during functions of these Associations and Institutes. AWARDS - YOUNG SOCIAL SCIENTISTS

The Indian Social Science Association had instituted an award for young social scientists about two decades back. For the purpose of the award ISSA organises a session in its conferences for presentation of scientific papers by the Young Social Scientists, below 35 years of age on a topic/problem being researched by the scholar. It is evaluated by a panel of judges and the best presenter is awarded Professor Radha Kamal Mukherjee Award. The Award includes a memorial plaque and certificate to the awardee.
The scholar is encouraged to make use of presentation tools and techniques. The evaluation also includes the judgment of scholar’s capacity to face audience, stick to time schedule and reply to the questions posed by the judges and the audience.
