About ISSA

The Indian Social Science Association (ISSA), an inter disciplinary professional body was founded in 1967 at RANCHI (Bihar) with the objective of promoting interaction between professionals from different disciplines. Late Professor L.P. Vidyarthi, an Anthropologist of repute was its Convener and the first President. This premier and pioneer Professional National Body of Social Scientists completed its FIFTY (50) YEARS of incorporation and proactive existence, in the year 2017. In the five decades that have elapsed, the Association has lived upto its motto “समाज रक्ष सर्वदा” by catalysing social dialogue (verbal and print) between Civil Society, Industry and Academia.

Since the establishment of Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) was being delayed due to usual Governmental snags, the founding of The Indian Social Science Association (ISSA) may be taken as the first step towards Inter - Disciplinary Interaction of the Social Scientists in India. After the formation of the Indian Council of social science research (ICSSR), Indian Social Science Association found a place of prominence in the very first list of professional bodies existing in the country. ISSA has now not only completed FIFTY years of humble professional service career and proactive existence, but has also attracted large numbers of social scientists, professionals from India and aboard as its Members.

A Galaxy of social scientists were associated with the founding of the Indian Social Science Association. Late Professor V.K.R.V. Rao was one of its Patrons. It was later transferred to Agra and was registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 and was being renewed from time to time. Its renewal could not be made after 2005 for reasons not relevant to be mentioned herein. However, a meeting of persons / Members related with this organisation was held on December 01, 2012 and there was a common and unanimous census amongst the persons present in the meeting that a Trust be created under the name and style of “INDIAN SOCIAL SCIENCE ASSOCIATION” so that there is a legally registered body thereby retaining the previous Members, Experience, Records and Operations. And this task was handed over to the Trustee creating this Trust and thereafter the drafts of this present trust was also circulated amongst the Executive Members of the Indian Social Science Association at the meeting held on 5th to 7th October 2014 at Hotel Grand, Agra and it was unanimously approved for registration and Mr. Abhinay Prasad, being the Author of this Trust was declared and delegated to get it registered and the following persons are its Trustee who have given their common and individual willingness to work as Trustee and as such they are appointed as Life Trustee(s):-
